ESNII Plus (Preparing ESNII for HORIZON 2020) is a preparatory phase project that supports the implementation of ESNII, one of the three pillars of the Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP).
Numeria is actively involved in ESNII plus Work Package 8 “Seismic Studies” and, in particular, Numeria engineers are working on the design of the isolation system and coordinate task activities on dynamic analysis of the base isolated ESNII reactor cores.
The ESNII Plus research project carries out coordinated activities to consolidate organisational aspects, research, development and demonstration initiatives on advanced fission reactor safety at European level.
These coordinated activities will foster pan-European joint programming activities and their implementation: organisational, financial, roadmapping, capacity building and associated industrial planning activities are a relevant part of the project. Additional cross-cutting joint research activities in a range of safety topics are nevertheless at the core of the project and include: core and fuel safety, seismic studies, and instrumentation for safety, industrial perspectives and support to the development of facilities.
The project involves private and public stakeholders, including industry, research and academic communities, with opened door to international collaboration. The European research institutes, utilities, universities, TSO and reactor industrial providers participating to the project are:
